The AskED® ePollbook Received Indiana Certification
Indianapolis, IN — March 4, 2014 — The Indiana Secretary of State’s office recently announced that the Robis Elections AskED® ePollbook has been certified and approved for use in Indiana. Electronic poll books are used to check-in voters on Election Day and provide great advantages over paper poll books, including the ability to implement vote-anywhere Vote Centers.
Indiana is one of the first states to implement a comprehensive testing and certification program for electronic poll books. The Indiana Secretary of State’s office created the Voting System Technical Oversight Program (VSTOP) which worked with Ball State University to establish a comprehensive testing and certification standard that is being considered as a possible model for other states. The certification process includes a detailed test by a federally certified testing agency.
According to David Davoust, President of Robis Elections, Inc., “We are very pleased to meet Indiana’s groundbreaking certification standards. Robis Elections is honored to have the opportunity to partner with Indiana counties to ensure accurate, smooth and fair elections. “
The AskED ePollbook offers not only a modernized version of the traditional paper poll book but also adds a built-in patent-pending Election Decision Support™ system. This advanced system provides poll workers with the correct solution to each voter’s situation, including the correct ballot style and any necessary paperwork. “AskED goes beyond what pollworkers could do with paper and helps ensure that each voter is given the appropriate opportunity to vote. The end result is improved accuracy, consistency and availability of the election process,” says Davoust.
The AskED ePollbook is available on tablet devices and touch screen laptops. Integrated barcode scanning and on-screen signature capturing are standard on the tablets for counties looking for an all-in-one solution. Barcode scanners, signature pads, receipt printers and on-demand ballot printing are also available. Loaded with standard features, the AskED ePollbook can be personalized screen by screen for each client ensuring that the ePollbook guides pollworkers through the correct county procedures. Poll workers can even encode voter access cards automatically for accessible voting machines. In addition, the AskED ePollbook is the only product to include complete on-board training materials and videos that assist the pollworker in other issues that might arise on Election Day such as a jammed ballot tabulator. The end result is a smoother election.
The benefits of AskED go beyond the polling place as well. The chief election official will have access to the AskED Command Center™, which provides a variety of real-time information and reports to improve the management of the election. Robis Elections is currently working with Indiana counties and looks forward to assisting even more.
